IDEAS Institute

The IDEAS Institute, forming part of the Employment Policies Directorate of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), has the objective to encouraging the creation of new business opportunities and innovative technology-based companies, and to work with these companies to disseminate knowledge for business success.
Since its creation in 1992, IDEAS has supported the start-up of 400 new companies (over 200 in the last 5 years), advised almost 4,000 entrepreneurs, and undertaken numerous activities aimed at fostering an enterprise culture that have made it a benchmark of its kind. Companies helped into existence by the Instituto IDEAS have created a total of 4,000 jobs (direct and indirect) for the Valencian economy. The average turnover of these IDEAS companies stands between 100,000 and 500,000 euros, though 5% of their number have annual sales exceeding 1,000,000 euros. There are examples of IDEAS-promoted firms employing over 1,150 workers and reporting turnover upwards of 150 million euros.
